Pastel eyeshadow and colorful eyeliner, right this way.

Great news for all of you people who don’t hate summer: Warm days are coming, and they're ushering in a ton of fun new summer 2022 makeup trends that'll have you looking forward to a heat wave. Yup, gone are the cool-toned eyeshadow and burgundy lipsticks of winter makeup—this summer's vibe is all about pastels, bright neons, and dewy highlighted cheekbones that will be all over your Insta in a few months. So whether you’ll be putting on a full face for a night at home with your selfie camera (same), or for an actual IRL event (wow, so social), I highly recommend you start practicing these trends now.

And if you’re not super skilled at drawing on intricate eyeliner or blending multiple shades from an eyeshadow palette, don't worry, because there are plenty of easy looks that any makeup newb can master in 30 minutes or less. Ready for the inspo? Keep scrolling for all the prettiest summer makeup trends that I found just for you.

Want a smokey eye but don't want to deal with blending out black eyeshadow? Try this smudged eyeliner trend this summer, which is way easier to create, since imperfection is part of the look. You'll need your regular black eyeliner (a crayon or pencil will be easiest to smudge), and a short, dense eyeshadow brush to blur and soften the lines as soon as you draw it on.

The best part about pastel hues? You can start wearing them as early as spring (or whenever you want—it's makeup, ppl), and keep it going all the way through summer. Pair your pastel eyeshadow with a neutral lip color and a clear brow wax (the one used here is Patrick Ta Major Brow Shaping Wax) to let the color stand out.

Fluffy eyebrows look just as good with the glammest of glam makeup as they do with your most minimal of minimal makeup. The best way to recreate Maren Morris' look? Pick up a brow wax (my personal favs are the Wink Brow Bar Power Hold Brow Styling Wax and Fenty Beauty Brow MVP Sculpting Wax Pencil & Styler) and brush your brows upwards to straighten and lengthen the hairs.

The most ~glamorous~ makeup trend for summer 2022 is gold eyeshadow. Nothing makes me feel ready for a party (or, more realistically, for a photo shoot with me, my couch, and my phone) like a couple layers of a super-pigmented gold eyeshadow and heavy, smudgy eyeliner.

Like to keep your makeup on the minimalist side? You’ll like this makeup trend for summer 2022, which gives you just a touch of glam without being too over the top, with just two gems on each inner eye. Grab yourself some lash glue and a black eyeliner to pull it all together.

Summer is all about bright colors and contrast, which is exactly what’s happening in Kylie Jenner's bright yellow and neon-pink eye makeup. Blend yellow eyeshadow across your lid and up your brow bones, then draw pink eyeliner across your lash line, or sweep on a hot-pink eyeshadow with a precision eyeshadow brush for a more diffused finish.

If bright eyeshadow's not really your thing, but you still want to get in on the fun, opt for a colored eyeliner along your lower lashes. It might seem like a big step, but all it takes is a swipe under your bottom lashes to give your look a ton of personality. Ty for the inspo, Issa Rae.

This summer makeup trend might take a few practice runs to get the hang of (it’s basically a more challenging version of winged eyeliner), but it’s worth it, IMO. Just grab a felt-tipped liquid eyeliner or marker, like the R.E.M. Beauty At The Borderline Eyeliner Marker used here, to make drawing your lines way easier and cleaner.

What better time for dewy skin than the sweatiest months of the year? You can pair this trend with a full face of makeup like in this pic, or go with a soft glam look instead. Swipe a liquid or balmy highlighter over your high points (think: cheekbones, tip of your nose, Cupid's bow, collar bones, and shoulders) for an all-over glow.

Pair a shimmery copper eyeshadow with some bronzer and warm neutral lipstick to get this summer look. It doesn’t require a lot of blending, but still delivers a major vibe. My advice? Start with an eyeshadow primer to make sure your color really holds.

Green isn’t just for Saint Patrick’s Day makeup, ppl—it also makes for a very cute summer-y makeup vibe, which is exactly why it’s trending this year. Plus, how cute would this be with a set of green nails?

Bold lips are a year-round makeup staple, but you can add a summery vibe to your red-lip look by swapping out your cooler-toned reds (like burgundies and dark reds) for a warmer hue like this coral lipstick. Btw, makeup artist Ania Milczarczyk used Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance Lipstick in Obsessed! in this look.

Tap into some '90s nostalgia this summer with some lip liner. What you'll need: Your fav neutral matte lip, a lip liner that's one to two shades darker, and a clear lip gloss. Start with the liner, then fill in your lips with the matte lipstick, rub your lips together to blend, and top with your gloss.
