Besides being a great designer, Victor Glemaud is also an exceptional host. He invited a circle of stylish friends to celebrate his new collaboration with Schumacher on Thursday evening at the Majorelle alongside Dara Caponigro, creative director of the renowned design house. “I love that when you walk into the restaurant, you get this incredible scent from the bouquets,” said Glemaud of the elegant uptown eaterie.

The smell of orchids in Majorelle’s private club room, where dinner was served that night, was indeed exquisite. And with pillows covered in a multitude of his colorful new prints for Schmucher on each seat at the table, the soiree had an intimate, personal warmth that was quintessentially Glemaud. As the designer put it, “it feels like you’re at home here, not in a restaurant.” Naturally, he was handsomely dressed in a custom toile pajama set of his own design. “It was really great to be able to share my true self in this partnership, to share my joy, my culture,” he said. “I thought I knew what it takes to make fabric and printing fabric from what I know from fashion, but it’s completely different for home.”

The likes of fashion activist Bethann Hardison, radio personality Bevy Smith, and designers Jonathan Cohen, Brandon Blackwood, Camilla Staerk, and Gigi Burris toasted Glemaud over a dinner of delicious roast chicken. Bottles of homemade hot sauce, courtesy of Glemaud’s aunt, were passed around the table and tucked into goodie bags for guests to enjoy later. Of course, the charming Glemaud pillows were a big hit, too. “I saw a few people sneak out with more than one!” said Glemaud laughing. “And I love that.”
