Greying hair can dramatically change your appearance, so it makes sense that you have to overhaul your makeup once your natural locks change colour.
But with a new colour palette to work with, it can be difficult to know where to start.
UK makeup artist Laura Kay, of Laura Kay Makeup, revealed her six go-to makeup tips for women who are going grey, explaining how simple tricks like defining your brows and adding a warm blush can completely transform your appearance.
Bronzer, for example, is more important than ever once the greys start to come in, and using concealer to create a dewy appearance will give even lacklustre greys a more luscious appearance.
Here, FEMAIL reveals the six tips every 'silver swan' needs to know...
1. Make bold brows your priority... but don't go too dark
Laura said that many people overlook their brows but bold brows are my number one must-have in the make-up department, as illustrated above
Laura Kay said to opt for dewier formulas of foundation as opposed to heavy matt formulas as the latter will only enhance imperfections and dry out your skin
Foundation should not be too thick - avoid looking 'slathered'.
Go for dewier formulas as opposed to heavy matt formulas as the latter will only enhance imperfections and dry out your skin.
A fresh and dewy appearance will give the silver locks a metallic and richer feel by association.
Top Tip: A make up primer can be amazing at smoothing your skin pre foundation application and help keep your make up in place for longer.
As we age it is natural for our brows to look sparse and lack definition and colour.
Many people overlook their brows but bold brows are my number one must-have in the make-up department.
It is key if you have grey hair to pay attention to your eyebrows to frame your face for a flattering and youthful look.
Brows can trick others from guessing your age as they in effect characterize your whole face and help focus and define your features.
Top Tip: Balance is key – don't opt for a shade that is too dark for your skin tone because this will appear too harsh and do the opposite by making you look older than you are.
Instead try a shade darker than your original hair colour, or try ashy undertones of varying brown hues for best results.
If you are finding you are applying make up on your brows often, think about investing in permanent make up such as microblading for natural realistic hair strokes.
This will ensure you are glamour ready without any effect, everyday.
3. Use bronzer on your T-zone - but avoid red tones and glitter
Makeup artist Laura Kay revealed it is important to incorporate warm tones to compliment your grey hair otherwise you will look washed out
It is important to incorporate warm tones to compliment your grey hair otherwise you will look washed out.
You can simply and easily apply bronzer on your t-section to add a healthy glow to your complexion as well as adding definition. Bronzer should be applied after your foundation and concealer for best results.
It is all about enhancing those warm tones to give you a beautiful radiant look. Stay away from bronzing products with any hint of glitter as it will make you look too shiny.
To finish off your make up, apply a gentle liquid highlighter on your cheekbones and bridge of your nose for a look that is natural and seamless, and adds slight contour without being too noticeable.
Top tip: Avoid any red tones that will make you look flushed and simply won't match well with your grey strands. For the highlighter, softly blend in with your finger for a natural appearance.
By choosing richer colours, such as, reds, deep pinks, berries and striking plums, they will compliment the cooler tones of your grey hair and also add balance to your features
Avoid neutral tones such as nudes, natural pinks or browns on your lips if you have grey hair.
It is normal to assume you should play down your lip colour for fear they will intensify your look to the extreme, but the opposite is in fact true.
Be confident to reach for the bolder, stronger colours.
By choosing richer colours, such as, reds, deep pinks, berries and striking plums, they will compliment the cooler tones of your grey hair and also add balance to your features and work well with your dewier skin.
As a universal rule, it is best to choose gloss over dry lip stick formulas, to give the illusion of plumpness and depth.
Top tip: Stay away from orange tones on your lips because it can draw out any yellow or blue undertones in your grey hair that may make you look like you need an urgent make over or look like you have dirty hair.
5. Defined eyeliner and eyeshadow is a must
Focus your eyeshadow with soft browns, purples and navy colours for a defined eye look that doesn't look too strong by overpowering your face
Don't be scared to smoulder. Focus your eyeshadow with soft browns, purples and navy colours for a defined eye look that doesn't look too strong by overpowering your face.
They key is also to apply an off-black or brown eyeliner instead of hash black tones, which will contract too much with your hair and it will also close up your eyes.
You should focus on opening up the eyes by layering your eye make up in stages. Finish the look by applying mascara to help frame your eyes.
Top Tip: Focus on the upper eyelid and corners by smudging and building up your eye shadow and where you focus your eyeliner.
This will give you a bold look but will cleverly add balance and also look natural and not overdone.
6. Don't forget to apply blush
Finish your make up with a flush off peachy pink, orangery red or coral blush depending on your natural undertone

Blush is perfect as it gives the appearance of a healthy youthful glow, which helps brighten up your grey hair. It will also help to balance your features and flatter your face.
Top tip: Softly sweep the apple of your cheeks with blush powder to give an instant fresh boost to your complexion.
